Archaeology Glacial Lake Clinton

There is a moraine that cuts through present day Mount Clemens that is visible on a topographical map. It separated Lake Clinton from Lake St Clair. You can see on this map that a large portion of Clinton Township and Sterling Heights was the bottom of this shallow lake. Paleo-Indians had camps on the edges of the lake 6000 years ago. The Holcombe Beach Site is at Dodge Park and Metropolitan Parkway. It is marked with the circles and squares in the upper left corner or the lake.
