spike42°36.576'N 82°58.283'WHere is a plank that was dug up from the Clinton and Kalamazoo Canal at Canal Road and Hayes. The section is cut at a 45 degree angle. What looks like a piece protruding out of one end and was cut with a motrise for two pegs at the other end. The spike is 1" square and 12"long. It is hand-made. This portion of the Canal was built around 1838. The canal workers got angry when they missed a few paychecks and burned some of the construction. At this site we found a charred timber. |
