June 2012 Canal Park
The Clinton River is very low due to a lack of rain in June. The dam, constructed in the 1840's to supply water for the mills, is visible in the shallow water. Under normal circumstances a canoe can easily glide over it with much room to spare. Some of the timbers washed away during the high water in the spring. Eventually all that will remain are the rocks. Some times the Clinton River can be 20 ft deep. Under these dry conditions, a person with long legs could wade across to Mill Park.
