Civil War Soldier
There is a nearly hidden plot in Macomb County where many of our earliest settlers are buried. In this
charming two acre Kukuk Cemetery lies the remains of John Beutel, a Civil War Soldier. John enlisted
when he was 18 years old in the Union Army. He was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga where most of
his regiment were captured by General James Longstreet. Many of them died in Confderate prisons, such
